Sylvan Avenue Elementary hosted its first-ever community read aloud in celebration of World Read Aloud Day, welcoming community and district members into classrooms to share the joy and power of reading with students. The schoolwide event highlighted the importance of literacy while strengthening connections between students and the larger Sylvan Avenue community.
Grounded in the district’s guiding message, “Where you belong, where we believe in you, where anything is possible,” the community read aloud featured thoughtfully selected books centered on themes of belonging, kindness, confidence and unlimited potential. Guest readers joined students in classrooms to read aloud and engage in meaningful conversations, creating a memorable experience that celebrated both reading and relationships.
