Fifth grade students from Academy Street, Blue Point and Sylvan Avenue elementary schools in the Bayport-Blue Point School District stepped into their future selves during their career day events.
Students took on the roles of the professionals they aspire to become and conducted research into their chosen career. They then presented their findings through one-on-one question and answer sessions, posters and brochures to the third and fourth grade classes. Their presentations included insights into day-to-day responsibilities, required education, average salaries, typical schedules, dress codes and the pros and cons of their future jobs.
To bring their career visions to life, the students also crafted clay model figures in art class, showing miniature versions of themselves dressed for their dream professions.
