Students performing on stage.

Bayport-Blue Point High School’s music department proudly presented their production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” in the school’s auditorium between Feb. 8-10.

The production follows the timeless fairytale of a young woman, Cinderella, who is forced into servitude by her callous stepmother. When Cinderella’s fairy godmother magically appears and grants her wish, her fortune begins to change.

During months of rehearsals, the cast of high schoolers worked hard to transform into the beloved characters of “Cinderella”. I always feel that the most exciting part of putting the musical together is the last few weeks of rehearsal, “said Director Jim Redding. “To be surrounded by a cast of 50, an orchestra of 40 and a stage crew of 30 all working to present a professional-looking production is thrilling!

"The talent of our high school students never ceases to amaze me,” added Chairperson for Art and Music and High School Musical Producer Paul Weber. “Whether it is the acting and singing coming from the stage, the beautiful sounds from our Pit Orchestra or the creative talents of our stage crew, it all comes together in the culmination of a beautiful creation. This year, several eighth graders and ten elementary school students added to the success of this production.  It was a magical experience!”
