Bayport-Blue Point High School students traded their usual routine for a day of fun activities and friendly competition during this year’s Phantom Day.
The day began with PSATs for underclassmen, while seniors enjoyed a celebration of their own. The Class of 2027 kicked back with a cereal bar, photos and nostalgic movies, giving them a chance to relax and spend time together during their final year at BBP.
Once testing wrapped up, Phantom Day got underway. Students each chose from a wide variety of staff-led activities, with options ranging from making friendship bracelets and charcuterie boards to a video game tournament, slot car racing, kickball and more. With something for just about every interest, the activities gave students a fun way to connect with classmates and staff.
The biggest competition of the day was still to come as Phantom Day debuted an all-new event: the first-ever Clash of the Classes, organized by BBP Connects.
Freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors faced off for bragging rights in a series of challenges, including mattress relays, dizzy bat races, tug-of-war and “Name That Song: TikTok Edition.” Students cheered on their classmates as each grade battled for the inaugural title. When the final challenge was complete, the freshmen came out on top, making BBP history as the school’s first Clash of the Classes champions.
