Bayport-Blue Point High School has been named a 2025-26 School of Excellence by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association, recognizing the academic success of its student-athletes.
The annual distinction celebrates schools whose varsity athletic programs demonstrate strong achievement in the classroom. Bayport-Blue Point was among just 40 Long Island high schools to receive the School of Excellence designation this year. This designation requires at least 75% of a school’s varsity teams earn the association’s Scholar-Athlete Team Award. For a team to earn the award, the average grade-point average of the top 75% of its roster must be at least 90%.
"While we take tremendous pride in the accomplishments of our student-athletes on the playing field, we are equally proud, if not more so, of their commitment to excellence in the classroom,” Director of Physical Education, Health and Interscholastic Sports Tim Mullins said. "The Bayport-Blue Point Athletics Department believes that true success is measured not only by championships and athletic achievement, but by the dedication our student-athletes demonstrate to their education and their future. Being recognized by the NYSPHSAA among the top high schools for the 2025–2026 school year, and earning the designation of a School of Excellence, is a tremendous honor. This recognition is a testament to the hard work, perseverance and commitment of our student-athletes, as well as the coaches and teachers who continually support, challenge and inspire them. It reflects the strength of our entire school community and our shared belief that excellence in athletics and excellence in academics go hand-in-hand.”
