At its June 8 meeting, the Bayport-Blue Point Board of Education recognized several staff members for their exceptional service and commitment to the district.

The board honored the district’s Teachers of the Month for the spring semester: Rich Hahn (February), Jennifer Graziano (March), Sara Desmond (April), Krystal Gunst (May) and David Johnson (June).

The board also celebrated 12 staff members who were granted tenure, including Nicole Avdoyan, Michelle Muccio, Mary Perdie and Jennifer Pierce of Academy Street Elementary School; Veronica Anderson, Douglas Iadanza and Sarah Post of Sylvan Avenue Elementary School; Samantha Burns of James Wilson Young Middle School; Alexis Andoos, Kaitlin Weber and Catherine Womack of Bayport-Blue Point High School; and Robert E. Haas, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction.

In addition, the district recognized 14 retiring staff members whose collective years of service have made a lasting impact on the Bayport-Blue Point school community. Honorees included Annemarie Manganello and Merrill Thompson of Academy Street Elementary School; Penney Grossman of Blue Point Elementary School; Diane Nowicki and Donna White of Sylvan Avenue Elementary School; Jeanette Asta, Karen Herlihy, Debora Maida-Schmieder, John McGovern and Trudi Schilling of James Wilson Young Middle School; Matthew Birdsall, Matthew McMullan and Neil Zarcone of Bayport-Blue Point High School; and Natalie Doyle and Christina Hanson from District Office.

The Board of Education congratulates all of the honorees and thanks them for their dedication to the students, staff and families of Bayport-Blue Point.
