At Blue Point Elementary, students are making all the right moves as proud members of the school’s chess club, the Chess Nuts.
Open to first through fifth graders, the program runs in three 8-week sessions and currently has close to 20 members. Students meet before or after school to learn strategy and sharpen their skills, then put them into action in friendly matches. By week four, tournament play begins, leading up to an exciting final championship round.
