In the week leading up to winter break, UPK students at Sylvan Avenue Elementary enjoyed festive, hands-on learning activities. Mrs. Ventimiglia’s UPK class decorated ugly sweaters on paper in honor of Sylvan Avenue’s Ugly Sweater Day, Mrs. Carpenter’s UPK students explored holiday-themed center activities and Mrs. Leigh’s class added a little science to the season by making gingerbread dough. Mrs. Greenlaw’s class used their imaginations with a gingerbread activity and became scientists by testing whether a Christmas ornament would sink or float.
