On Nov. 26, James Wilson Young Middle School held its annual grade-level spelling bees with sixth, seventh and eighth graders competing simultaneously across the building. Eighth graders took the stage in the auditorium, seventh graders faced off in the cafeteria and sixth graders gathered in the gym. After several impressive rounds, Drew P. (eighth grade), Carter S. (seventh grade) and Alex T. (sixth grade) emerged as their grade-level champions.
The excitement continued as the entire school assembled in the auditorium to watch the three winners compete for the title of schoolwide spelling bee champion. After a competitive final round, seventh grader Carter S. claimed the top spot with the winning word “pizzeria.”
Carter will now take a qualification test in February to determine if he advances to the regional competition in March. Congratulations to Carter and all participants on their hard work and outstanding spelling skills!
