In anticipation of the upcoming school year, Bayport-Blue Point hosted a series of orientation events on Aug. 26 and 27 to welcome incoming students and help ease their transition into new schools.
At James Wilson Young Middle School, Principal Ms. Westerlund greeted incoming sixth graders for Locker Day on Aug. 27, offering a warm welcome and an overview of what to expect in their first year. Following her remarks, students toured the building, found their classrooms and practiced using their lockers for the first time. Upper-grade student mentors were on hand to guide the new students, answer questions and offer advice on navigating middle school life.
On Aug. 26, Bayport-Blue Point High School welcomed the Class of 2029 during its annual freshman orientation. Principal Mr. Walcott introduced students to the high school experience, including academic schedules, the college and career center, extracurricular activities and more.
The orientation featured an inspiring keynote presentation by motivational speaker and wrestler Rohan Murphy, who shared his powerful story of overcoming physical challenges and achieving success through perseverance and determination.
After the presentation, freshmen broke into small groups led by upperclassman peer mentors. The students then went on guided tours of the building, found their classrooms and asked questions about their next four years.
