Eighth grade students at James Wilson Young Middle School marked a meaningful transition as they took part in their moving up ceremony on the evening of June 25.
The event featured sentimental speeches from Principal Patricia Westerlund and eighth grade advisors Jessica Armstrong and Krystal Gunst that celebrated the memories, friendships and accomplishments the students made during their time in middle school. Additionally, teacher Vincent Rosa was selected by the students to deliver a special address to their class.
Following the speeches by students Livia F., Grace R., and Francesca S., who reflected on cherished memories and hopes for the future, the eighth grade chorus captivated the audience with a moving rendition of Billy Joel’s “Vienna”.
Throughout the evening, students were recognized with various awards honoring their achievements in academics and other areas of distinction.
The celebration concluded with each student crossing the stage to receive their certificate, an important milestone that signified both the end of their middle school journey and the exciting start of high school this fall.
