There was plenty to celebrate at the Bayport-Blue Point Board of Education meeting on Sept. 15. Seventeen students were recognized for having their artwork selected for the district’s 2026-27 calendar. Congratulations to Janey A., Mariah A., Harper A., Aminah C., Emma C., Ava D., Jane E., Ava H., Elise L., Finley M., Ella M., Leila N., Ellison P., Katherine S., Juliet S., Matias S. and Amelia V.!

The evening also celebrated two members of the BBP staff. James “Jimmy" Hoek was recognized as Employee of the Year. In celebrating his 38 years with the district, Superintendent Robert E. Haas said, “He has had an impact on everyone, and it really is all about the person that he is and the energy and positivity that he brings each and every day."

Next, Stephanie Eberhard-Holgerson was recognized as Teacher of the Year. "She is somebody who is constantly trying to help students build connections, to the school, to the community and most importantly, to each other,” said Mr. Haas.
