HELPFUL LINKS

The District’s goal is to provide efficient, effective and safe transportation services for our students. Transportation is provided for those children in kindergarten through grade five who live more than one and a quarter (1.23) miles, grades six through eight who live more than two (2) miles and grades 9-12 who live more than two (2) miles from the school they attend. Eligible pupils will receive identification cards in the mail. The application deadline for private and parochial school transportation is April 1, 2024.

In accordance with Education law and Board of Education policy, all requests for transportation of children to private and parochial schools outside the district for the school year 2023-2024 must be submitted in writing by parent, guardian, or authorized representative no later than April 1, 2023. Requests may be sent to the Bayport-Blue Point Transportation Office, 189 Academy Street, Bayport, NY 11705.

Transportation authorization is not automatic or continuous from school year to school year; requests must, therefore, be filed each year for children requiring such transportation. For those planning to apply or who have applied to a private or parochial school and are still awaiting formal acceptance, an application must be on file by April 1st, 2023. This application should include each and every school (up to two) that your child/children may attend during the 2023-2024 school year. In this way, the district may include the cost for transporting your child/children in the 2023-2024 operating budget and relieve parents of this financial responsibility.

It is the policy of the School District to provide transportation to private and parochial schools no more than 15 miles from the home of the child.

With regards to bus stops, please note the following:

  • If you have any questions regarding your child’s bus stops or bus letters, please email us.

To request a change in bus stops for a non- emergency reason, please send your request in writing via email. You must include your name, your child’s name, phone number, grade, address and reason for your request.

Because the beginning of the school year is an extremely busy time, it will take at least 10 school days to respond to non-emergency type of inquiries.

  • If you believe you have a health and safety concern related to transportation, you must send us a request in writing via email. Please include your name, your child’s name, phone number, school, grade, address and a full description of your health and safety concern. You can also call us at 631-472-7877.

Health and safety concerns take priority and will be addressed as soon as possible.
