Bayport-Blue Point High School Advance Placement Seminar students enrolled in the district’s AP Capstone Program visited Stony Brook University last month to gather valuable materials for their research topics. During finals, SBU allowed the students to access their computer labs and databases to collect valuable information on topics, which included access to mental health, global warming, fracking, human trafficking, medical animal testing and more.

The students are now prepared for the first component of the AP Seminar College Board Exam, the research paper and group presentation. The students first choose a vital topic significant to themselves and society and will later argue for a solution to the team’s research topic. The SBU databases enhance the students’ available resources.

The AP Seminar students also visited the Staller Center and the Stony Brook University art installation “Revisiting 5 + 1,” held at the Paul W. Zuccaire Gallery and received an informal lecture from one of the curators.
