Bayport-Blue Point High School donned purple in recognition of P.S. I Love You Day. A national movement, P.S. I Love You is celebrated each second Friday of the month of February with the goal of decreasing bullying, placing emphasis on mental health awareness and educating individuals on recognizing when someone may need help.

Interact Club members decorated each locker and classroom door with purple signs that had handwritten, uplifting messages. Interact students also greeted students entering the building with purple Hershey kisses and purple bead necklaces. The club members also made a P.S. I Love You poster for the main hallway and painted it with their handprints.

During homeroom, students printed their name on purple of strips of paper, which were made into a paper chain to symbolize inclusivity. There was also an opportunity for students to fill out Kindness Grams to be delivered to recipients during homeroom.

The art department also held a contest for this year’s theme “Love All Your Chapters,” meaning that each moment in life creates a chapter in one’s own story and can makes everyone stronger individuals. The winners of the art contest were Kate A. and first runner-up Jordan K.
