Student Council

Students from the high school will be eligible to participate in a "Habitat Build" in the spring if we can raise $1500 by the end of the school year. This is a very rewarding experience for the students. In the past, they have painted, sheetrocked walls, put up siding and roofing, and installed insulation. Often, the homeowner-to-be participates in the build with us making it even more exciting and fun!

Student Council has successfully raised money for various charities over the past 3 years through a Haunted House fundraiser. On the Friday before Halloween, the high school is transformed into a Haunted House and the results are amazing. This event has evolved into something that all the students and community members look forward to besides being a fun way to raise money. On the day after the Haunted House, we create a Safe Halloween for young children. The high school students dress in costume and supervise the children as the classrooms are turned into areas where the children can have their faces painted, participate in a mummy wrap, and listen to Halloween music while they do crafts or play games.

Student Council has been delivering gifts to the John J. Foley Adult Day Care Program since 2002. This year we had over 200 gifts and the registrants at the facility were thrilled. Many of these people have no one at home to give them holiday gifts and we truly brighten their holidays. The entire high school, including faculty, staff, and students, participate in this event. The students and faculty members who deliver these gifts benefit from seeing the delight on the faces of the registrants which makes this an annual heartwarming experience.

What is Student Council?

Student Council is an organization that gives students the opportunity to develop initiative and to undertake leadership roles within the school community.

Who Can Participate?

All students in grades 9-12 can actively participate in Student Council. Student Council consists of an Executive Board and a body of Student Council representatives. The Student Council Officers, the President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer make up the Executive Board along with a Class Representative from each grade. Each Social Studies class selects a Student Council Representative at the beginning of the school year. The Student Council Officers are elected by the student body from either the Sophomore or Junior class during the spring before they serve as officers.

When and Where Does Student Council Meet?

Student Council meets approximately 5 times per year in the Library during the school day. The periods are various so that the students participating do not miss the same class more than twice in the school year.
Who is the Student Council Advisor?

Mrs. Pitkewicz is the Student Council Advisor.
