Bayport-Blue Point Scholars Rise in National Competition

Bayport-Blue Point High School students were honored by the National Merit Scholarship Program, which is an academic recognition and scholarship competition for high school students. Participants entered by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), which serves as an initial screening for the approximately 1.5 million entrants each year.

Bayport-Blue Point High School student Adam Janzen represents the nation’s best, receiving Semifinalist status, which places him among the highest scoring entrants in New York State. Adam is one of the 16,000 students, or approximately one-third, of the 50,000 high scorers in the nation. This award gives him the opportunity to advance to the Finalist level and a position as a possible scholarship recipient.

In addition, two students, Declan Diemer and Dylan Kann, received Commended Student status. These students are part of the 34,000, out of the 50,000 high scorers, on the PSAT/NMSQT. These students now have the opportunity to be candidates for Special Scholarships that are sponsored by corporations and businesses.
