Superintendent's Message
Dear Residents,
As we look towards the new school year, our district, along with school districts throughout Long Island and the state, will face a multitude of challenges. An increase in unfunded state mandates, the new property tax cap and new requirements for teacher evaluations and student assessments are all financial and instructional obstacles we will have to overcome. As a district, we have been proactive in addressing these issues and in response have developed a plan of action that will maintain our tradition of academic excellence and student achievement.
Our focus as an educational community remains on student growth within academics, athletics and the arts, as well as the success of students within the classroom and beyond. Our teaching staff continues to develop a comprehensive curriculum that infuses the state mandated common core curriculum and cutting-edge technology into lesson plans while providing students with hands-on learning experiences.
At the primary levels, students will build upon a strong foundation of literary and social skills while mastering advanced science and math concepts. Through the high school’s diverse educational opportunities, students will have the ability to engage in a multitude of challenging arenas, including Advanced Placement courses and the School to Business Partnership program. To facilitate this high level of diverse, districtwide instruction, our valuable support staff will assist in enhancing the educational environment for all students.
Community insight and support are, as always, appreciated, and we as a district are committed to preserving that vital relationship. As we continue to work together for our children, I look forward to another successful school year.
Sincerely,
Dr. Anthony J. Annunziato
Superintendent of Schools
