Several Bayport-Blue Point High School students have been selected to participate in the upcoming 2012 NYSCAME/SCMEA All-County Music Festival. Congratulations to Diane Barba (mixed chorus), Matthew Beyer (symphonic band), Jessica Brine (women’s chorus), Taylor Cosci (mixed chorus), Erin Dougherty (symphony orchestra), Alex Dura (symphonic band), Zahrie Ernst (symphony orchestra), Megan Gallagher (women’s chorus), Mary Horan (symphony orchestra), Jennifer Mazzio (symphony orchestra), Bennett Salvesen (mixed chorus and symphony orchestra) and Bridget Schuster (mixed chorus).

The festival, which will be held this year at Northport High School in mid-November, draws thousands of submissions annually. Last spring these students worked diligently to prepare solos at the NYSSMA All-State level. They were adjudicated during a NYSSMA Solo and Ensemble Festival this past May and earned high-achieving scores due to their hard work and dedication to the study of music. These scores earned the students a spot in this year’s All-County concert band, mixed chorus, women’s chorus or symphony orchestra.

“On behalf of the music department, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Bayport-Blue Point High School music students that have been selected to participate in the 2012 NYSCAME/SCMEA All-County Festival,” stated Music and Art Chairperson Paul Weber. “Being chosen to participate in this festival is a highly coveted honor and one that recognizes the students as among the best musicians in the county. The district is most proud of these students’ accomplishments.”
