James Wilson Young Middle School’s eighth-grade French class had the chance to broaden their global cultural understanding as they took French Canada by storm this spring.

During the four-day trip, the students and accompanying parents had the chance to practice speaking French and visit several historical monuments. They learned about the settling of French in Canada, had the opportunity to walk suspension bridges over roaring waterfalls and even created a newscast.

“It's been 11 years now that this trip has been offered to students of French 8, and every year it reinforces the importance of global cultural understanding,” said teacher Gilles Desrochers. “Students continue to talk about their experience for years following the trip, which is true testament to its success.”
