Superintendent Search Survey
District Seeks Community Input for Superintendent Search
Dr. Anthony Annunziato, the Bayport-Blue Point Superintendent of Schools, has accepted the position of Superintendent of Schools of the Smithtown Central School District effective July 1, 2012.
The Board of Education has begun the search for a new superintendent, voting at the April 2012 board meeting to enlist the assistance of Eastern Suffolk BOCES in the search process. Eastern Suffolk BOCES is experienced in this process, and the search for a new superintendent will be conducted by Gary D. Bixhorn, Chief Operating Officer, and Raymond Fell, Search Consultant. Mr. Bixhorn and Mr. Fell met with the Bayport-Blue Point Board on May 15, 2012 to review the search process and timeline.
Community and staff members are asked to give their input via an online survey through Monday, June 18, 2012. Categories such as the importance of the potential candidate’s qualifications and personal characteristics, as well as his/her abilities and experience with school staffing, instruction, board relations, district operations and finance, will be polled and taken into consideration.
The survey can be accessed by clicking on the link located on the home page of the district’s website at www.bbpschools.org. Additionally, hard copies of the survey will be available at the District Office at 189 Academy Street in Bayport.
Recruitment efforts will be extensive, with interested candidates submitting application information through June 18. Interviews are expected to begin this month and continue through several rounds that will conclude in July.
The Board of Education will strongly consider the community survey results in their selection of the new superintendent.
