Bayport-Blue Point : Adult Education


 

The Continuing Community Education Office is located in the Bayport-Blue Point High School. The Director of the Bayport-Blue Point Continuing Community Education will answer any questions and receive any suggestions for the growth and improvement of the district's program. REGISTRATION All persons must REGISTER BY MAIL or in person on Tuesday, February 13, 2007 on a first come-first serve basis. Mail registration must be postmarked by Tuesday, February 13, 2007. Include phone number on each check. Registration will take place in the High School Auditorium LOBBY. Students in grades 10-12 are eligible to participate. All persons 16 years of age or older may register for the Continuing Community Education program. The class session formula will be used to determine the number of classes held. You will be notified if a class is cancelled due to insufficient registration.

REGISTRATIONS OR CANCELLATIONS CANNOT BE ACCEPTED BY TELEPHONE

REGISTRANTS ARE TO ASSUME THAT THEY HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED IN SELECTED COURSE(S) UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTIFIED.

Most classes begin Monday, February 26, 2007, and will meet for the sessions noted in the book and website at Bayport-Blue Point High School unless otherwise indicated.

FEES Payments by check are payable to: Bayport-Blue Point Union Free School District. Include phone number on each check. Non-residents will pay an additional $10.00 fee. Residents of Sayville will not be charged the additional $10.00 fee for non-district residents. Residents will be asked to produce some proof of residency. Teenagers should have proof of their sixteenth birthday.

LATE REGISTRATION If openings still exist, you may register the first session of the class. Report first to the Director's Office. However, you are advised to register early. Classes will be cancelled prior to February 26 if insufficient enrollment exists.

SENIOR CITIZENS If you are presently 60 years or older and have been a resident of the Bayport-Blue Point School District for the past six months you are eligible for a Senior Citizen Card.

Registration fees for Continuing Community Education courses will be at a reduced rate for all card holders (except materials fee) unless an outside agency is providing a service. To obtain a card, bring proof of age and residence to the receptionist at the District Office of the Bayport Blue Point UFSD (telephone 472-7860). Cards must be shown at the time of registration.

SMOKING REGULATIONS Smoking is prohibited in all school buildings and on school grounds.

PARKING & FIRE SAFETY REGULATIONS When attending classes in our Continuing Education program, you are requested to utilize the parking area in the lots on the NORTH and SOUTH side of the high school building. Although it is legal to park on Snedecor Avenue after 6 p,m. it is recommended that you do not park there for safety reasons. Those attending classes at the JWY Middle School or elementary schools must park in designated parking areas. Please be reminded that it is both illegal and unsafe to park in fire zones or to block entrances or exits. We ask your cooperation in parking appropriately so as to leave handicapped parking spaces and fire zones vacant for those who need them, All parking areas are fully lighted.

Fire drill procedures are posted in each class room. Please take a moment to read these instructions and familiarize yourself with the exits from the building. Should the fire alarm become activated, all are required to exit the building immediately.

CLASS CANCELLATIONS AND CLOSINGS When district schools are closed due to inclement weather, continuing education classes will not be held. If in doubt, listen to local radio stations. If a class must be cancelled for any other reason, your instructor will notify you by phone and make-up classes will be scheduled.

REFUNDS No fees will be refunded unless a class does not form due to insufficient enrollment or medical reasons (a doctor's note will be required). Allow several weeks for receipt of refund as it must be processed through the business office.
