Students enrolled in Luanne Rosado’s first grade class at Academy Street Elementary School recently contributed their creative talents toward the Long Island Railroad’s “Safety Along the Tracks” slogan contest.

For the contest, the students were asked to come up with a catchy slogan, as the winning catchphrase will be displayed throughout various LIRR stations once the winner is announced after the Dec. 15 deadline. In doing so, Mrs. Rosado’s students brainstormed as a class to ultimately arrive at their slogan, “When You Hear A Train on the Way …. Stay Away and Don’t Play.”

Additionally, student Christian Monaco contributed his artistic talents toward creating a beautiful illustration of a locomotive train.
