During the Bayport-Blue Point School District’s Board of Education meeting held on Oct. 22, staff and students throughout the district showcased their appreciation toward the Board of Education in honor of School Board Recognition Week.

Student representatives, along with the principals of the majority of district educational buildings, were on hand to present the members of the Board of Education with impressive works of art featuring the signatures of all students from each respective building.

Blue Point Elementary School kindergarten teacher Katy Ann Tirado was named Teacher of the Month for the month of October as per nominations by her colleagues and principal. Mrs. Tirado was met with words of praise from Bayport-Blue Point School District Superintendent of Schools Dr. Timothy P. Hearney, and was presented with a token of appreciation for all of her efforts.

Additionally, student-musicians from both James Wilson Young Middle School and Bayport-Blue Point High School were on hand to dazzle the attendees with their unparalleled musical talents. The performers included the combined James Wilson Young Middle School and Bayport-Blue Point High School Jazz Band performing "Leap Frog,” the Bayport-Blue Point High School Vocal Jazz Choir who performed "Happy Together,” and the Bayport-Blue Point High School Jazz Band’s musical talents soared in "Hot House."
