Bayport-Blue Point High School students enrolled in AP European History and AP World History classes recently ventured into the Big Apple to spend some time with some of the most famous masters of art, along with the artwork that defined their careers, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Upon being introduced to the museum staff, students and their chaperones quickly took interest in the vast display of Greek and Roman sculptures. According to AP European History teacher Sean Meade, the students walked quietly, gazed raptly, read diligently and puzzled with furrowed brows over the magnificent display of paintings, tapestries, sculptures, photographs, furniture, armor and crafts.

“As we canvassed the masterpieces, the Metropolitan Museum of Art opened its beautiful soul to our presence,” said Mr. Meade. “We reveled in our time and even discovered areas unexplored in previous outings.”
