The June 19 Board of Education meeting celebrated the accomplishments of staff members and recognized individuals who devoted their time to maintaining the district’s upstanding reputation.

To begin the evening’s recognitions, board trustees Gina Murphy and Christopher Richardt were honored for their three years of service toward the community. Both Mrs. Murphy and Mr. Richardt were met with words of kindness from Superintendent of Schools Dr. Timothy Hearney and presented with plaques commemorating their time spent on the Board of Education.

Bayport-Blue Point High School senior Charlotte Beisel was recognized for serving as the Board of Education’s student delegate for the 2017-18 school year. Charlotte was thanked with a heartfelt speech by Dr. Hearney, and presented with an American University sweatshirt, where she will be attending in this fall.

Additionally, Bayport-Blue Point High School art teacher Frank Salino was presented with a token of appreciation for being named the Teacher of the Month for the month of June.

“Mr. Salino is one of those people I consider a go-to person,” said Dr. Hearney. “He has been bringing ideas forward on a regular basis. We truly value his opinion and what he has done for the district.”
