The June 5 Bayport-Blue Point Board of Education meeting celebrated not only student achievements, but also recognized those faculty and staff members who were awarded tenure and will be retiring at the end of the school year.

Academy Street Elementary School fifth-grade student Treigh Tomassone, Sylvan Avenue Elementary School fifth-grade student Alyssa Ayerle and third-grader Brennan Cole were congratulated for earning honorable mention in this year’s Brookhaven National Laboratory Science Fair. 

Sylvan Avenue Elementary School fourth-grader Shlok Parek was recently named a winner in Senator Tom Croci’s Veterans Appreciation Poster Contest, and was presented with a token of appreciation from the Board of Education for his artistic accomplishments.  

Soon-to-be retirees were presented with a token of appreciation from Superintendent of Schools Dr. Timothy Hearney and thanked for their cumulative years of service. The district congratulates Laura Behanna, Elizabeth Brown, MaryAnne DeDominicas, Ellen Erath, Maureen Fischetti, Theresa Montigny, Joe Orenzo, Lynn Peppler and Maureen Raemdonck and thanks them each for their unwavering years of service to the schools and students.  

Additionally, in honor of their dedication and commitment, staff members Alyssa Cordano and Ashley Olmstead were honored and granted tenure by the Board of Education.
