It was a day full of smiles and celebration as the school community came together to celebrate Homecoming 2016 on Sept. 24.

The festivities began the day prior with the high school pep rally and continued the next morning with the traditional Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

During the ceremony, Timothy Mullins, director of physical education, health and interscholastic sports, congratulated the latest cohort of inductees. This year, the district honored Guy Italiano, Mark Miller, Chris Niblock and Alysha Rodriquez, adding their commemorative plaques to the official wall.

The varsity football game was preceded by the homecoming parade, which began at Blue Point Elementary School. Participants garnered support for the hometown Phantoms as they traveled through the community before arriving at Bayport-Blue Point High School.

Due to construction taking place at the high school stadium, the game was hosted at James Wilson Young Middle School, where the Phantoms dominated the field and captured a 31-6 victory over Southampton.

At halftime, seniors Jake Liberatore and Mackenzie Fabiani were crowned homecoming king and queen, and the senior class was named the winner of the float contest with their “Jaws”-themed creation.
