The musical skills and talents of six Bayport-Blue Point High School students have earned them top honors and selection to perform in concert with regional, state and national ensembles.

Olivia Ingrassia, a senior, has been chosen to perform with the All-National Symphony Orchestra in the National Association for Music Education All-National Honor Ensembles concert, to be held in Grapevine, Texas, Nov. 10-13. Vocalist Molly Conklin, also a senior, has been selected to perform with the All-State Chamber Choir at the New York State School Music Association Winter Conference, to be held in Rochester, New York, Dec. 1-4.

Senior Josh Lurie, a trumpet player, has been named an alternate for either the All-State Symphonic Band or All-State Wind Ensemble at the NYSSMA Winter Conference.

In addition, junior Shannon Conrad (Soprano II) and seniors Samantha Mazzone (Mixed Chorus) and Gianna Orlando (Mixed Chorus), along with Olivia, Molly and Josh, have been selected to perform in the NYSCAME/SCMEA All-County Music Festival in November.

The students were chosen for these honors based on their scores at last spring’s NYSSMA solo and ensemble evaluation festivals, as well as teacher recommendations.

“We are extremely proud of our students who are accepted into these prestigious, high-level musical ensembles,” said Paul Weber, the district’s chairperson for art and music. “They should be highly commended for working so diligently to achieve these tremendous accolades.”
