Bayport-Blue Point middle and high school students showcased their knowledge of STEM-based concepts as they participated in this year’s FIRST Robotics Competition, FIRST Stronghold, which took place at Hofstra University this spring.

The Robotics Club is a joint effort of students from Bayport-Blue Point and Sayville, who work under the guidance of Mr. Donarummo and Mr. Coon. The six-week build period took place during January and February in Sayville High School’s tech labs. The team was responsible for designing, building and programming a robot that could complete the prescribed tasks against competitors from all over the globe.

The team did a great job at the competition, and the district is proud to congratulate BBP members: eighth-grader Jacob Lurie, ninth-grader Harry McAward, 10th-grader Emily Heins, 11th-grader Caitlyn Breaton and 10th-grader Eric Rosario.
