Young Playwrights

Blue Point Elementary School students regularly demonstrate their creativity through school projects and writing assignments, and this winter they embraced their talents by penning original stories.

These stories were submitted to Child’s Play, a touring theater company that visits schools throughout the United States, and the talented professionals chose three student-composed plays out of the many submissions to act out. The plays were performed before a schoolwide assembly in March.

This year’s winners included Mrs. Mills’ second-grade class for “The Bouncy School,” fourth-grader Kendal Wooley for “The Parrot’s Story,” and fourth-graders Cole Gibson and Emma Novak for “Dream Kittens.” In addition to the winners, several students received honorable mention in the call for playwrights.
