Extending a Helping Hand

Bayport-Blue Point High School students, along with the district’s buildings and grounds department and the BBP Teachers’ Association, conducted their annual Haunted House and Safe Halloween charity fundraisers in October.

Many made contributions of money, candy and water, which helped support the volunteers who worked tirelessly, some for over a collective 24 hours, to plan, create, run and clean up after the events. The activities raised $2,128, which was donated to support two active BBP families dealing with major illnesses.

This charity initiative is part of the pledge Bayport-Blue Point High School made when it joined Compassion Without Borders, a collective group of Long Island schools dedicated to making a difference. The leadership, dedication and work ethic of all involved were vital to the success of the events and for meeting the goal of improving the lives of others while connecting with the community.
