Dear Parents and Guardians,

We have received notification that the transportation company that services the district  - Acme/Baumann - may experience a strike of its bus drivers beginning as early as this week. This potential strike could disrupt bus service for up to 250 children. Students transported by our own Bayport-Blue Point buses, as well as Suffolk Transportation, are not affected.

We are concerned about the impact of a potential strike on our students and families and we want you to be prepared in the event one does occur. We are in the process of trying to secure alternate transportation to bus our affected students safely. We will keep you updated to our plans as they become finalized.

While we are hopeful a strike will be avoided, the safety and security of your children is of the utmost importance. We are confident that should a strike occur your children will be transported to and from their destinations safely.

We will continue to update you as information becomes known. If you have any questions and/or concerns, please contact the transportation office at 472-7877.

Regards, Dr. Vincent Butera
Superintendent of Schools
