Bayport-Blue Point High School was named one of America’s top high schools in Newsweek’s 2015 Top 500 Public High Schools rankings. This honor was only received by 21 high schools on Long Island.

The annual rankings assess schools based on a broad range of data to identify those that excel at preparing students for college and to overcome socioeconomic obstacles. BBP earned the distinction of being ranked No. 443 in the nation, with a college readiness score of 77 and a 97.2 percent graduation rate.

“We are very proud of this recognition, which is a true demonstration of our staff’s pledge to provide students with a challenging and enriched learning experience,” said Principal Dr. Gaurav Passi.

“Our district has a strong commitment to providing students with a well-rounded and robust educational program that is designed to meet a myriad of learning abilities and interests,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Vincent Butera. “From our accelerated math program with built-in supports at the middle school level to our numerous Advanced Placement courses at the high school, BBP scholars are afforded opportunities to excel and meet high expectations. I commend all of our faculty, administrators and students on earning this much-deserved recognition.”
