The world-renowned work of Georgia O’Keeffe was the subject of a recent painting project at Academy Elementary School.
Working with art teacher Beverly Maier, the school’s third-grade students created floral paintings inspired by O’Keeffe’s style. In advance of the project, the students researched and read literature about O’Keeffe, including her background and work. They then replicated her iconic look by creating large images of flowers and applying their understanding of warm and cool palettes to their paintings.
