For the second consecutive year, the district has been named a Best Community for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation.

This year, 388 school districts were chosen out of thousands of national applicants. This award recognizes that the district has set the bar high for music education by offering students access to a comprehensive music program that is part of the core curriculum.

Paul Weber, chairperson for art and music, said, “It is once again an honor to receive this designation from the NAMM Foundation. The music and art department is very appreciative of the support we continually receive from the Bayport-Blue Point community and how a comprehensive arts education is valued in our school district.”

Now in its 16th year, the BCME program evaluates schools and districts based on funding, staffing of highly qualified teachers, commitment to standards, and access to music instruction.
