As a conclusion to their six-week study on penguins, Academy Elementary School first-graders shared the lessons they learned during a black-and-white-themed event.

Students acted out familiar penguin-themed stories, including “Tacky the Penguin,” and showcased the art projects, original books and dioramas they had created to demonstrate a penguin’s natural habitat. Dressed in black and white, the students also enjoyed black and white snacks while sharing their newfound knowledge with family and friends.

Throughout the month-long study, the students learned about the different types of penguins and the average penguin measurements, and even measured themselves to compare their height to different penguins, including the little blue penguin and emperor penguin.
