Top Honors for DECA

Bayport-Blue Point High School’s DECA club has experienced tremendous success over the past few years – dominating the competition and advancing beyond local tournaments. The club’s success continued this year as the team recently qualified to compete in the New York State DECA competition after a successful showing at the Suffolk County regional contest.

During the event, which tested the team’s knowledge in the areas of marketing, finance, hospitality and management, 16 students earned top honors and a bid to the coveted state contest.  Five students are still waiting to hear back on their business proposals.

The state competition will be held in Rochester, New York, in early March. Students who advance beyond the state level will have the opportunity to compete at the national conference in Orlando, Florida.
