Holiday Giving

Throughout the holiday season, James Wilson Young Middle School students and staff spread cheer to local families by coordinating a number of community service projects.

The National Junior Honor Society organized a share-the-warmth drive, soliciting donations of cold weather outerwear items. Students collected hats, scarves and gloves for the Patchogue Soup Kitchen. Additionally, the eighth-grade class collected hundreds of toys for the Toys for Tots program, and the leadership club collected pet food and supplies for the Islip Animal Shelter.

In addition to the schoolwide efforts, the building’s staff adopted 18 families for the holidays. Community members aided the cause by making monetary donations during school concerts, and staff members purchased holiday gifts for the recipients.
