Sylvan Avenue Elementary School’s Ana Altman received the Youth in Community Service Award at Project Heal's five-year anniversary fundraiser, held at the Copacabana in Manhattan. Earlier this year, Ana coordinated an effort to sell originally fashioned buttons with the school’s Peer Leaders, a project that raised close to $300 for Project Heal.

Project Heal was started four-and-a-half years ago and has raised over $250,000 to support patients in residential treatment, as insurance often does not cover the expense. The nonprofit has opened more than 20 chapters across the U.S. and Canada.
