Longtime Bayport resident Tony Sanseviro will join the Bayport-Blue Point Board of Education as a trustee beginning July 1, 2013. Mr. Sanseviro has lived in the district with his wife Andrea for the past 20 years and has a daughter enrolled at the middle school. He’s an engaged community member, volunteering at various fundraising events and with the Bayport-Blue Point Foundation, and is motivated to inspire others to work together toward common goals. He has been a regular audience member at the district’s Board meetings for the past seven years, and when looking for ways to become more involved in the community, he felt that taking on this volunteer position was a natural progression in meeting that desire. Credited as a strong team player, he looks forward to representing the community and hopes to foster a greater sense of community engagement within the schools.

Mr. Sanseviro is a local businessman, working for his family’s insurance company, and believes his past experiences will serve him well in his new role as trustee. Among his goals as a Board member, Mr. Sanseviro hopes to maintain a student-centered focus and work collaboratively with school leaders to find ways to bring the district to the next level of success. He is proud of the work currently being done in the district and hopes to be a part of the development of new programs that will engage children in learning while being mindful of the cost impact on homeowners. Also concerned about external factors that affect the district, he is committed to seeking relief from state mandates and ensuring resources are best utilized.

Mr. Sanseviro will be officially sworn in as a member of the Bayport-Blue Point Board of Education during its reorganizational meeting on Tuesday, July 2 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
